Half-Baked Schemes Racing’s 2008 Season begins with a bang (pics inside!)

The team made its debut outing for 2008 last weekend at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY. The team enjoyed the facility there last year as the track is interesting (and groomed well), and there is more than enough space in the pits. Oh yeah, and it is a mere 15 minutes from home base in Rome. We don’t even have to get on a highway to get there! There are three races scheduled there this year, and we plan to hit all three. That should make it the most frequented locale on the calendar.

Drive to Sunoco and turn way to the right

I posted awhile back about my migration into “oldpersonville”, and how many of the signs were yet absent. But, I continue with one of them. I have begun watching the news on a daily basis. I used to when I was younger, but got tired of being depressed. The Anti-Customer

It has been a long time since I shopped for a car with the intent to actually buy one. Sure, I often stop by the dealers to window shop, but like a woman at Tiffany’s I go home empty-handed. But, this experience sure has taught me a lot.

Snow White and Her Dwarves

For whatever reason, I like to whistle when I walk around the building at work. It is not always a given song, sometimes it is just notes strung together. My melody started out that way this afternoon, when I noted that it suddenly took a familiar tone. I did not recognise it at first, but it became apparent quickly. I was humming the theme to $25,000 Pyramid. I have not seen that show in years. But, the theme seems like it will be hanging around for a while, judging by the number of times my brain has rolled through it now.

Analog Annoyance

It is nice that the TV industry, or FCC, or whomever is mandating the switch to digital signal for Feb. 17, 2009 is running TV commercials. I have probably seen 30 now. And each time they try to address the densest possible individual that would be seeing said commercial. They talk slowly, and really work on their annunciation. And every time it ends with “TV’s currently hooked up to cable will not have this issue.” Fine. Then how come every single one of the 30 commercials I have seen has been on a cable channel!!! I have never seen one on a broadcast station, like the local CBS/FOX affiliate. Aren’t those the people you need to address?
